Lithuania's second biggest city Kaunas declared an influenza epidemic on Tuesday, the National Public Health Center said.
Last week, the flu and acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) rate reached 128 per 10,000 inhabitants in Kaunas and 108 in the district of Kaunas.
There were 317 flu patients in the city last week, including 134 children.
Lithuanian cities and municipalities see yearly flu epidemics in late autumn and winter. Health officials recommend staying away from those ill with flu, stay at least a metre away from a coughing or sneezing colleague, carefully wash your hands, routinely aerate rooms, avoid mass gatherings, and aim to stay away from others once feeling ill.
