Šiauliai region in northern Lithuania has created a tourist app to attract more visitors, the Šiauliai Tourism Information Center announced on Friday.
While many may have heard about the Hill of Crosses (Kryžių Kalnas), one of the most stunning sites in Lithuania near Šiauliai, the app also aims to profile other noteworthy locations. These include manor houses, objects of natural beauty, as well as hike paths and other activities.
"The new ['Šiauliai'] app will allow tourists to use the provided routes interactively," Rūta Stankuvienė, head of the local tourism information center, said in a statement.
The 'Šiauliai' app is available to download on Google Play Store. When searching for the app, be mindful to use the original spelling with an 'š' – Šiauliai. It is available in four languages, including Lithuanian, Latvian, English and Russian.
