Saulius Tomas Kondrotas: As if life began anew 2013.01.31 09:27

Saulius Tomas Kondrotas, a celebrated Lithuanian author who currently resides in the United States, turned 60 on 30 January.   Born in Kaunas in 1953, Kondrotas studied psychology and philosophy in Vilnius University and earned renown for his novel “Gaze of the Viper,” published in 1981 and translated into a number of languages, as well as for sparking a discussion on swearwords – a thing unheard of in the literary circles of Soviet Lithuania. In autumn 1986, Kondrotas went on a tourist trip to Germany – and never came back.
