Israeli embassy shuts doors in Vilnius to protest cuts 2019.10.31 12:50

Israeli embassy in Vilnius announced on Thursday it will close the diplomatic mission in protest against fiscal policies that they say harm the state's interests.

Israeli embassies have shut doors across the world as Foreign Ministry workers went on strike over a dispute involving stipends to overseas workers, which had been tax-exempt for decades, according to CNN.

"Due to the decision of the Israeli Ministry of Finance to breach understandings that were agreed upon and signed by the Director General of the Ministry of Finance on July 21, 2019, and to apply a one-sided procedure that alters a protocol that has been in place for several decades, we are forced to close the diplomatic mission," the embassy posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday.

"No consular services will be provided and no one will be allowed to enter the Embassy/Consulate," the statement reads.
