Rescuers continue searching for a person who fell out of a capsized yacht, the Lithuanian military has said. Five people have been rescued and one confirmed dead after an accident in the Baltic Sea near Klaipėda on Sunday.
“The rescue operation resumed at 7:30 AM, with coastguard vessels working in he area, scanning the surface along the pier and the coastline in search of the missing person,” Lieutenant Commander Ramūnas Kazerskas told BNS on Monday.
Five people are now being treated in hospital for hypothermia after they were rescued from water. The yacht's captain has been confirmed dead.
All seven crew members onboard were Polish citizens.
Based on initial information, the yacht was sailing to Klaipėda when high waves turned it over.
