Diana Vilytė, the head of Lithuania's Public Procurement Office, has requested to be dismissed from the position.
“I have worked for a rather long time and just want to change my job. There's no a single reason. It's my personal decision,” she told BNS without disclosing her new employment.
The 15min.lt news website was the one that broke the news about Dilytė's decision on Thursday.
Vilytė has headed the Public Procurement Office since 2014. She was appointed for a second them by the ten President Dalia Grybauskaitė in December 2018.
A spokesman for President Gitanas Nausėda has said Vilytė will be asked to stay until a replacement is found.
“A search for potential candidates to fill the position of the head of this service is underway. It's a very important area, and we want to have continuity and for the existing head to continue working until a new head is appointed. We hope to do that soon,” Antanas Bubnelis told BNS.
He also called Vilytė a great specialist in her area of work.
