Lithuania's EU Commission nominee is likely to be responsible for environment, climate change and fighting pollution, the Verslo Žinios daily reports.
"There are many possibilities, including this one. But no decisions have been made yet. We expect them in a week or two. Let's give the EC president time to decide and announce which European commissioners get which portfolios," Sinkevičius, Lithuania's Economy and Innovation Minister, told Verslo Žinios.
Sinkevičius met with the European Commission's new president last Wednesday and said his area of responsibility could be announced in September. The politician confirmed he and von der Leyen discussed future work in the areas of climate change and digitalisation.
