In solidarity with the UK after the Skripal poisoning, Lithuania last March expelled Russian military attachés – Captain First Class Vitali Timofeyev and his assistant, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Pobut, who were allegedly working for the Russian intelligence services. Three more officers working under diplomatic cover were expelled soon after.
However, more Russian security cadres have been sent to Vilnius. A joint research by LRT Investigation Team and Mikhail Khodorkovsky's Dossier Center has profiled five out of 28 listed workers at the embassy who could be identified as having links with the Russian intelligence services.

Dossier Center, established by Mikhail Khodorkovsky, is “engaged in research of observance of laws by officials, businessmen, politicians and deputies in the regions of Russia”. Identity of the contributing journalist is protected due to threats to his safety.
