Historian and three priests among Lithuania's top 10 most influential public figures

Vilnius University historian Alfredas Bumblauskas and priest Ričardas Doveika are the most influential public figure in Lithuania, according to a ranking published by the news website.

The ranking is based on a survey of about 1,000 select leaders from different fields.

Bumblauskas and Doveika received 308 and 271 votes respectively. Political scientist Linas Kojala came in third with 229 votes.

Bumblauskas has been leading the ranking for the past five years, and Doveika went up from the third place from last year.

educologist, owner of kindergarten network

9. Algimnatas Čekuolis
journalist, TV host

10. Algirdas Toliatas
Cahtolic priest, author

In a separate survey of the public, conducted by Spinter Tyrimai, the ranking is topped by Čekuolis, Bumblauskas and conductor Donatas Katkus. The public top 10 list also includes actor and theatre director Rolandas Kazlas, singer and architect Algirdas Kaušpėdas.
