Nausėdienė to quit lecturing in order to assume role of Lithuania's first lady

Diana Nausėdienė, the wife of President Gitanas Nausėda, plans to suspend her professional career and will no longer lecture at Vilnius University's Business School in order to dedicate herself to the role of Lithuania's first lady.

Nausėdienė has told BNS said she made the choice after listening to recommendations of political scientists, and she also took into account the fact that her new role would require a lot of time.

“I love my students and my work and I would gladly continue lecturing. Political scientists recommend against giving preference to one school due to ethical reasons. And another reason is that the function of representing the state and planned social activity will demand a lot of time. Therefore, I will probably have to suspend my professional activities,” Nausėdienė said.

The First Lady has so far been lecturing on international protocol at Vilnius University's Business School.

Nausėda was inaugurated as president on July 12. Nausėdienė accompanied her husband during his first state visit to Poland.
