Ramūnas Karbauskis, leader of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS), and his family members have used 25 times the opportunity to receive payments for the first 30 hectares of land.
According to the 15min.lt news website, Karbauskis received such a payment personally, as well as his son, father, 12 enterprises of the Agrokoncernas business group – headed by Karbauskis – one company controlled by the politician, and nine companies controlled by his relatives.
In total, they received €42,300 euros in EU support in 2018, with €40,100 and €37,700 received in 2017 and 2016 respectively.
The reporters have pointed to the fact that, under the existing rules, such support for the first 30 hectares can be received only once.
Previously, Karbauskis and his enterprises have also received millions in EU payments.
Together with the support received by his father, son and sisters, the family received €6 million in payments from the EU and the Lithuanian National Payments Agency. A similar amount was received in 2017, and 7.4 million euros were paid out in 2016.
