Lithuania has recently experienced its hottest mid-June days in 58 years, the Hydrometeorological Service said.
The average temperature for the second ten-day period of this month was 6.6 degrees centigrade higher than the usual average for the period.
New daily heat records were set on June 11 through 13. Temperatures surged to 35.7 degrees in Kaišiadorys, central Lithuania, on June 12, the highest-ever temperature recorded for the month in the country.
Meteorologists say a period of below-average precipitation has continued in the country since late March.
