Gaida, a contemporary music festival in Vilnius, is one of 24 European festivals shortlisted for the biennial EFFE Award 2019-2020.
The European Festivals Association (EFA) and the EFFE International Jury picked 24 EFFE Laureates that “demonstrate artistic excellence and at the same time have a strong impact on the local and regional development of cultural cooperation”.
Gaida is the only festival from the Baltic states in the list that also include events like BBC Proms, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Prague Spring, Ars Electronica and others.
Held annually since 1991, Gaida is the largest and most prominent festival of contemporary music in Lithuania and the Baltic countries and one of the most important music forums in Central and Eastern Europe.
The winners will be presented during the EFFE Awards Ceremony in September in Brussels.
In addition to the main award, the 24 festivals compete for EFFE’s Audience Choice prize. It will be selected by online voting on FestivalFinder.eu.
