The archive of documents and photos of Petras Klimas, a signatory to the February 16, 1918, Act of Independence and also Lithuania's former foreign minister, and his family will be handed over to the Lithuanian Central State Archives on Tuesday.
The handover ceremony will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vilnius. The family archive was handed over to Lithuania by Petras Klimas junior who passed away in May.
The archive includes important historic resources, including Klimas' diary and correspondence, as well as diplomatic letters and documents of former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Stasys Lozoraitis and Juozas Urbšys, diplomats and other well-known Lithuanian diplomats, public figures and foreign diplomats, the ministry said.
The Lithuanian Central State Archives already has the archive of the Lithuanian representation in France which consists of several handover sources. Part of the documents arrived from Rome together with the archive of the diplomat Lozoraitis.
