Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, currently in Croatia, on Thursday officially opened Lithuania's Embassy in Zagreb.
"As Lithuania marks the 15th anniversary of its EU and NATO membership and Croatia marks its 5th anniversary of EU membership and the 10th anniversary of NATO membership, the embassy opening is an important step in the development of Lithuanian-Croatian relations," Linkevičius was quoted as saying in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"I have no doubt the embassy will contribute to the promotion of Lithuania's name in Croatia," he added.
The embassy opening was attended by members of the Croatian government and parliament, public figures and members of the local Lithuanian community.
Lithuania's diplomatic representation will be situated in one of Zagreb's high-rise buildings.
Jūratė Raguckienė serves as Lithuania's ambassador to Croatia since March 4.
