The Lithuanian Rowing Federation will make the bid for the country to host the 2023 World Rowing Championships.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet gave the go-ahead for the Lithuanian Rowing Federation to submit the country's bid to the International Rowing Federation.
The government plans to allocate €2 million for the tournament events.
Lithuania would play host to the World Rowing Championships for the first time.
Serbia is also vying to host the 2023 World Rowing Championships where athletes will compete for spots in the 2024 Olympics.
