MP Juška appointed chief of Lithuanian parliament’s Anti-Corruption Commission

BNS 2019.05.16 16:05

Ričardas Juška from the Liberal Movement party has been elected chairman of the Lithuanian parliament Seimas' Anticorruption Commision on Thursday.

He will replace his fellow party member Vitalijus Galius who renounced his mandate after being elected mayor of Joniškis in March.

Juška still needs parliamentary approval to chair the 17 member commission.

Under an informal agreement and the long-standing tradition, the parliamentary opposition nominates a candidate to chair the Anticorruption Commission, despite the fact that such a rule is not defined in the Statute of the Seimas or the Law on the Anti-Corruption Commission.
