Lithuanian shoppers flock to Poland for cheaper food and alcohol

LRT RADIJAS, Mindaugas Laukagalis2019.05.14 11:10

Lithuanians spent over €360m last year in neighbouring Poland on cheaper food and alcohol, according to Central Statistical Office of Poland

There is also an increasing number of small grocery stores on the Polish side of the border, selling Lithuanian products – and according to director Arūnas Vizickas – they are much cheaper than in Lithuania.

Shopkeepers told LRT Radio that Lithuania could decrease prices in shops by lowering the VAT for food products – as it’s done in neighbouring Poland.
