Lithuanian foreign expects to meet Ukraine's president-elect during Kyiv visit 2019.04.25 09:51

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius is going to Kyiv on Thursday where he expects to meet both Ukraine's outgoing President Petro Poroshenko and the newly elected head of state Volodymyr Zelensky.

Linkevičius is to discuss Ukraine's foreign policy agenda, security, some domestic issues and the progress of reforms.

After Zelensky's landslide victory in the presidential run-off vote last Sunday, Linkevičius said he hoped Ukraine would stay on course and continue with reforms.

The Lithuanian minister also said that his country was ready to assist Ukraine.

Zelensky was elected president with 73 percent of the vote, beating the incumbent, Poroshenko, with 24 percent.

Zelensky's inauguration is scheduled on June 3.
