Newly-elected members of the City Council of Vilnius are signing a ruling coalition agreement on Thursday.
The ruling bloc will have 38 seats in the 51-member council.
It includes 18 members of Mayor Remigijus Šimašius' committee, nine council members from the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), six from the coalition of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (LLRA-KŠS) and the Russian Alliance, and five from the Labour Party.
The Šimašius-led committee proposes Vytautas Mitalas, currently head of the municipal Committee for Culture, Education and Sport, as one of the city's three vice-mayors.
The LLRA-KŠS want Edita Tamošiūnaitė to stay on as a vice-mayor, and the TS-LKD propose Valdas Benkunskas for the third spot.
Povilas Poderskis will keep his job of the capital city's municipal administration director.
