The second National Television channel (LRT KULTŪRA) started on 16 February 2003.
From 1 December 2010 it has been broadcast digital only and also through the network of the Lithuanian cable operators.
The LRT KULTŪRA main premise is broadcasting of culture, educational, information and regional programming aimed at rallying a larger regional viewer audience.
With the view of promoting social integration of the disabled and those with bad hearing, LRT KULTŪRA news programmes are being translated into body-language, some original programmes and TV movies are subtitled.
LRT KULTŪRA pays a special regard to children’s programmes; world’s best documentaries and programmes dedicated to culture and education are scheduled for prime time positions.
